El escritor Eduardo Mendoza ha sido galardonado con el Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Letras 2025.
Eduardo Mendoza nació en Barcelona el 11 de enero de 1943. Novelista, dramaturgo, traductor y lingüista, se licenció en Derecho en 1965 en la Universidad de Barcelona y trabajó como traductor en la ONU y en diferentes organismos internacionales. Además, es colaborador habitual de numerosos medios de comunicación.
Es autor de novelas como La verdad sobre el caso Savolta (1975), El misterio de la cripta embrujada (1979), El laberinto de las aceitunas (1982), La ciudad de los prodigios (1986), La isla inaudita (1989), Sin noticias de Gurb (1991), El año del diluvio (1992) o Tres enigmas para la Organización (2024), y ha escrito también obras de teatro y ensayos.
Ha recibido numerosos premios, como el Premio de la Crítica (1976), el Premio Ciudad de Barcelona (1987), el Premio al Mejor Libro Extranjero (Francia) en 1998, el Premio Planeta (2010), el Premio Kafka (2015) y el Premio Cervantes (2016) y su obra ha sido traducida a varios idiomas.
La Biblioteca AECID cuenta con algunas obras suyas, dos de ellas, La ciudad de los prodigios y La verdad sobre el caso Savolta traducidas, respectivamente, al árabe y al ruso.
